Sensor for measuring rainfall MS&E PIV-4M
Sensor MS&E PIV-4M is in the production list of the Consortium "MS&E" since the end of 2007 and is designed to measure the quantity and intensity of all kind precipitations from automatic weather stations models MS&E-3, MS&E-4 and automatic rain-gauge MS&E DL Rain-2. It consists of housing aluminium alloy and signal cable 3m.

Construction:
Type:Tipping Bucket
It consists of a thermostatically controlled receiver aperture 200 sq. cm, a reception unit and two outlets.
Converter: contactless - optocouplers;

Output:
- Electrical pulses directly proportional to the amount of precipitation;

Power supply to electronics:
- DC, from 10 to 15V
- Current consumption at 12 V - 25 mA.

Power supply to the heater of the receiver aperture (the measurement of snow):
- DC, from 12 to 18V
- Current consumption at 15 V - 5 A.

Metrological characteristics:
Precipitation (rain, snow):
-Measuring range from 0.0 mm to unlimited;
-Resolution 0.1 mm;
-Relative error of measurement - up to ±3% in the intensity of the precipitation of 60 mm/h.
Intensity of precipitation:
-Measuring range from 1.2 mm/h to 180.0 mm/h;
-Resolution 1.2 mm/h;
-Relative error of measurement - up to ±3% in the intensity of the precipitation of 60 mm/h.
